Study Visits

The study visit approach was demanding but proved to be an effective stimulus to more in-depth teacher motivated professional development. It helped build professional networks, enabled substantive creative work and had the effect of recruiting significant individuals to take on lead roles in the Tide~ network.

This time-line, with links, features some of the main visits and partnerships. DEC/Tide~ ideas about study visits evolved through many experiences, in particular with - Brazil, Columbia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Greece, India, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Taiwan, Uganda and Zambia.

Study Visits [highlighted in purple] involved groups, often structured as an Inservice Course including group work before and after the visit.

Partnership projects [highlighted in orange] involved more joint work and visits both ways.

A regular feature of the DEC / Tide~ strategy
